Mike,

I would love to know what you think about owning an IG verses owning a Whippet.  I would love to get another Whippet or an IG some day.  Of course it's much too soon as I'm still mourning Louie.

They are so very similiar. I have noticed that our IG is more of a cuddler than our Whippet, but honestly, they are so simliar we just think of our IG as a small Whippet. haha. Love our IG!

Hey, everyone, I am new to this community of hound lovers and I just wanted to say hey! I have an Italian Greyhound named Cooper, hence my name, Minicoop.

You will have to tell the folks the differences between an IG and a Whippet.. Any differences you can tell?

The only thing that I see that is different about Iggies and Whippets are that Iggies are waaaaaaay more hyper than Whippets. Cooper was a rescue found on the streets in San Antonio which made him scared of a lot of things when we first got him. Now the only thing he has a problem with is the need for attention. When I bring him home from college and he is around Lexie he believes that he should have all the attention and gets nervous when he doesn't have it. For the most part Iggies and Whippets are similar in their personalities. Both love sleeping, running, playing, and being in your lap 24/7.

I have heard that comment before about Iggies being more hyper than Whippets, but that wouldn't bother me, since I am used to terriers that are also very hyper.

Welcome, Marsha!!! I'm so glad to see you here. You could certainly tell everybody the differences between Whippets and IGs.

Yes I can. There are so many people that think ig's are whippets or the reverse. I even have that problem when we take Cleo to pet stores to try to collect some donations for our GPA.  We take Lance with us because he  does not like being
left home. Then we hear from people, Oh look, there is a baby greyhound. Then we have to explain that he is a whippet.
And there are times we have to explain what a whippet is. I have thought of taking one of our iggies with us too. But then I would have to explain all three sizes. HA HA
