Lexie - Locked in Kitchen
« on: February 09, 2012, 11:22:38 am »
Well, we had to put new carpet in the house. We are selling our house and having a new house built for my wife and I. In the process we had to replace our old carpet, due to it being old and of course, the occasional dog stain. So, now that we have all new carpet in the house, Lexie needs to be locked up in our kitchen when we are away. I felt so bad doing that to her. She looked at me this morning with her ears back sorta like, WHAT THE HECK DUDE!!  We moved her bed and some blankets with toys into the kitchen for her, but I feel so bad locking her up. In the past she would simply sit on the beds upstairs so she could look out. I still feel so bad today.. Poor girl..  ::)

Oh well, once we get moved she will have access to a back yard that opens up to a huge greenbelt behind the new house. We also will have a nice wrought iron fence that she can look through to see the people and others walking on the greenbelt. She just loves out doors! But for now, she is sitting on her bed, in our kitchen, with her toys... man, got to concentrate on work today.. feel too bad though.. haha

Ah, poor Lexie! I know that guilty feeling too well. Last night when I came home from work, it was raining, and my foot was bothering me, so we didn't go for a walk like we usually do. Boy, Gracie really gave me the dirty looks for awhile for not taking her for a walk. Alf made up for no walk by bringing me his ball and toys to play with him, but Gracie just glared at me!

Your new house and yard situation really sound nice. We would like to see pictures of it after you move. Don't worry, Lexie will forgive you; they always do.

I how I know that look well. Do not feel guilty. When Lexie goes to the new house she will feel like a Queen.
In the meantime give her some extra treats. Make her feel special.  Give her a hug from us. :-*.

We just listed our house today BTW. Been living here for 19 years.  Kinda sad, but looking forward to a new house on the lakes of Bridgeland.. :) They just took the pictures today. So, I thought I would share. BTW, the chair near the pool is the chair that Lexie had that Black and White pictures taken of her while she was sun bathing. haha. The new house will have an open backyard with a wrought iron fence over looking a huge greenbelt. She is going to love it!

Possibly blocked by your companies web filters. It is posted on a website that lists homes. Your company might block those. Let me know if you can see them when you get home.

My girls are always in the kitchen when we aren't home but I still get "the look" everytime I put them in there.   They have a sweet deal anyway..beds, toys, TV on, view of the side yard.

Very nice house by the way!

Very nice house but far to close to the neighbors.  We are looking for acreage away from neighbors,
that way we do not have to keep the dogs locked up.

Yeah, housed close to town tend to run a little closer to each other. If I moved out of the city a bit, then I could get a lot more acreage. But, then I have to mow it as well. haha.. We live in Houston, TX BTW.

That is a wonderful house! With a pool, too, how nice. Does Lexie ever swim in the pool?

What kind of tree is that in your front yard? It is a very nice specimen tree, and I bet it is good for shade, too.

I'll be interested to see pictures of your new house near the green belt. I watch the Home and Garden channel, and see all those huge houses down South that are priced so much lower than much smaller houses in other parts of the country (such as around here). :-\

Lexie hates the water! Haha we have tried...

Those area live oaks in the front yard. They are fantastic trees. They are evergreens and the leaves fall off in the spring when new growth pushes them off.

Yeah down south the houses are priced lower, I think it is due to the fact we have so much land available to us. Lots of other reason I won't go into. ;) It s all about location just like in any other city. The closer you are to downtown, the higher the price. But in Texas, buying a home 23 miles from downtown is not uncommon. Houston does not have just one downtown, we have several.

BTW a NEW 3700 sqft home will run you $345k-$400k. You can buy this house in a master planned community with a town center for shopping, lakes, bridges, pools, work out center included! I watch the home and garden show as well and my jaw drops when I see a 2200sqft home going for $400k! And that house is 15 years old!  ::)

I to watch HGTV. I can't believe that you buy a condo in New York or L.A., square footage is 1600 or less, for anywhere between 2 million and up. Those people must be nuts.
