I to watch HGTV. I can't believe that you buy a condo in New York or L.A., square footage is 1600 or less, for anywhere between 2 million and up. Those people must be nuts.

I know. But I guess its all about location location location.. :)

You know it! The prices are dropping around here now, though. Prices hit a peak around 2006 and have come down at least 33% the past few years, and it now sometimes takes a year or two to sell a house in the Seattle area. I would love to sell in a couple of years and move to a small town or a rural area where things are quieter, and you have more room around you, but it's hard to plan anything a year or two in advance with the economy the way it is. You never know if you'll even have a job from one week to the next. I just heard on the news this morning that there will be mass layoffs in the USPS - more unemployed people to add to the 14 million already unemployed.

Lexie hates the water! Haha we have tried...

Those area live oaks in the front yard. They are fantastic trees. They are evergreens and the leaves fall off in the spring when new growth pushes them off.

Yeah down south the houses are priced lower, I think it is due to the fact we have so much land available to us. Lots of other reason I won't go into. ;) It s all about location just like in any other city. The closer you are to downtown, the higher the price. But in Texas, buying a home 23 miles from downtown is not uncommon. Houston does not have just one downtown, we have several.

BTW a NEW 3700 sqft home will run you $345k-$400k. You can buy this house in a master planned community with a town center for shopping, lakes, bridges, pools, work out center included! I watch the home and garden show as well and my jaw drops when I see a 2200sqft home going for $400k! And that house is 15 years old!  ::)

Mike

Aha - live oaks. They are like our regular oaks, then, because our oak leaves turn brown, but stay on all winter, and the new leaves finally push the old dead leaves off.

You would never get that good a deal around here - 3700 sq ft for $345K-$400k. I would feel like I was living in a mansion if I lived in your house!
