Zoey
« on: January 13, 2012, 09:05:19 am »
Zoey's full name is Eclipse Envy of Sporting Fields.  She was a succesful show dog who came to me after she retired.  I fell in love with Zoey the fisrt time I met her, long before she was so well known, and immediately began telling her owner that I would love to adopt her after her showing days and mothering days were over.

Sadly, Zoey became ill shortly after a G4 at Westminster and she retired.  She came to me the following November and did pretty well for a year then lost one of her back legs.  She did not let that slow her down and with the help of a wheelchair could out hike all the other dogs.  She was an unbelievable dog and is greatly missed.

This is the first picture I ever took of her, years before she came to live with me.

Zoey had a great careeer. MBIS/MBISS; 2005 and 2006 #1 Whippet. Winner of 18 all breed Best In Shows in the US and a 2006 Group 4 at Westminster.

What a show dog she was! I loved her dark eye liner and light fawn coloring. Did she have many puppies, and if so, did any of them do well as show dogs?

She became ill before having any puppies so there is none carrying her genes in the ring.  Which is too bad.  Zoey was the most successful female whippet since the 1920 although her BIS accomplishments have now been surpassd by two females.  Neither of these dogs have competed in Westmister however.  Hopefully they will this year.

Thanks for the answer, Jonathan. I sort of thought that was the case. It's a shame that she didn't get a chance to have any puppies. :(

Had not seen this on Zoey. So sorry for your loss. She was beautiful. I love the Zoey Tribute. That is fantastic, and the picture of Zoey at the beach is spectacular.
